Job Description

Position Summary:

The Apprentice Mechanic is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and servicing of construction vehicles and equipment used in paving and site work operations. This is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on experience and skill development under the direct supervision of experienced mechanics. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities included but not limited to: 

  • Comply with (and actively promote) all safety policies and procedures, including reporting accidents, incidents, and near-misses, to uphold the company's Number One Core Value – Safety first, in everything we do.
  • Assist mechanics in performing diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a variety of equipment, including pavers, rollers, skid steers, trucks, and trailers
  • Learn and apply proper techniques for oil changes, filter replacements, tire repair, lubrication, and fluid checks
  • Support in inspecting equipment for wear and damage and reporting findings to the supervisor
  • Help maintain accurate service and repair records
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
  • Assist with loading/unloading parts and tools, and organizing inventory
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment under supervision and with appropriate training
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and training programs

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Technical College or recently graduated
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or experience working with tools and machinery is a plus
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors
  • Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic
  • Valid driver’s license
