Job Title: Assistant Manager Location: The Red Lion – Bleecker Street, New York, NY Type: Full-Time Reports to: General Manager About Us: The Red Lion is a legendary live music venue, restaurant, and bar nestled in the heart of the West Village. Known for electrifying performances, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere, we’re a cornerstone of NYC nightlife. We’re currently seeking a passionate and driven Assistant Manager to help lead our team and keep the good vibes going strong. Position Summary: As Assistant Manager, you’ll work directly with the General Manager to ensure smooth daily operations, deliver outstanding customer service, and support both front- and back-of-house teams. You’ll be a key player in upholding the vibrant, high-energy experience The Red Lion is known for, while ensuring operational efficiency and staff performance. Key Responsibilities: Assist in day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar, including service flow, staffing, and inventory. Maintain high standards of hospitality and ensure an excellent guest experience. Support and supervise FOH and BOH teams during service; step in where needed. Help manage employee scheduling, onboarding, and ongoing training. Enforce health, safety, and cleanliness protocols in compliance with local regulations. Collaborate with the General Manager on live music programming logistics and event execution. Handle guest concerns or service recovery as needed with professionalism and urgency. Monitor inventory, assist with vendor relations, and help manage supply orders and budgets. Foster a fun, motivated, and respectful workplace culture. Qualifications: ~2+ years of restaurant or bar management experience preferred (NYC experience a plus). ~ Passion for live music and a solid understanding of bar/restaurant service. ~ Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to lead by example. ~ Calm under pressure, with excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities. ~ Knowledge of POS systems (Toast, Aloha, etc.), scheduling software, and basic reporting tools. ~ Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. ~ NYC Food Handler’s Certificate is a plus.
