Position Overview:

The Grant Writer is responsible for securing funding to support Sharing Excess’s mission by researching, writing, and managing grants. This role plays a key part in aligning funding opportunities with program goals, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and assisting in the development of long-term fundraising strategies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in persuasive writing, and able to track financial data to support grant reporting and organizational growth.

Core Responsibilities:


Grant Writing & Proposal Writing:

  • Research and source, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners.
  • Develop compelling proposals and reports that highlight Sharing Excess’s mission, impact, and financial needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to align funding opportunities with program goals.
  • Sourcing Grants

Reporting & Expense Tracking:

  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting for all active grants and funding sources.
  • Track project expenses and ensure that they are within budget constraints.
  • Assist in creating financial reports and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

Fundraising Strategy & Development:

  • Assist in the development of long-term fundraising strategies to support Sharing Excess's programs and growth.
  • Help identify new funding sources and partnerships to enhance the organization’s financial sustainability.

Advising & Support:

  • Provide ongoing advice to senior leadership regarding financial strategies, grant opportunities, and sustainability.
  • Help prepare internal reports and presentations for board meetings and funder updates.


Compensation:

  • Salary: $55,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
  • Flexible Scheduling.
  • Paid Time Off.

  • Retirement Plan with employer contributions after 6 months.


Work Location:
This position is remote with an expectation of availability during 9am-5pm EST.
