Job Description

Westbrook High School is seeking a School Counselor. This position will include working directly with grade level case loads and potentially delivering SEL curriculum during our advisory period.The successful candidate will be state certified as a School Counselor. The successful candidate will have experience supporting students in the following areas: academic planning and goal setting, providing short-term counseling and making referrals for long-term support, delivering career/college curriculum, advocating for students at IEP, 504s, and other student-focused meetings;  analyzing data to identify student issues, needs, and challenges. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining and supporting a caseload of students, organizing and conducting 504 referrals and meetings, delivering curriculum that addresses all students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development, and collaborating with staff and families to support the needs of all students through various intervention programs. Westbrook High School is a BARR School of Excellence; familiarity with the BARR model is preferred.

Finally, we are proud to prepare students for the Seal of Bi-Literacy through our Multilingual Learner programming and our Modern and Classical Language courses. Westbrook High School has become a springboard for students to join the military, enter the workforce or go onto college through relevant and rigorous coursework and the guidance of our Aspirations Counselor and Student Services Department.
