About the Role:
Our client, a reputable and established law firm located in downtown Chicago, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join their growing team. This is a fully in-office position supporting attorneys on complex litigation matters. The ideal candidate will bring 3–5 years of hands-on litigation support experience, including trial preparation and electronic court filings.
Key Responsibilities:
Support attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and resolution
Prepare, revise, and proofread pleadings, motions, and correspondence
File legal documents electronically in both Illinois state and federal courts
Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files and trial materials
Coordinate discovery processes, including document production and deposition scheduling
Assist with trial preparation, including assembling exhibits, preparing witnesses, and managing logistics
Maintain attorney calendars, track court deadlines, and schedule meetings
Communicate with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel professionally
Track billable time and assist with time entry and expense reimbursements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, associate's degree required.
3–5 years of litigation legal assistant experience, preferably within a law firm
Proficiency in electronic court filing systems and knowledge of court rules
Demonstrated trial preparation experience, including on-site trial support preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software systems
Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
