Job Description

What you'll do at

Position Summary...

This role sits at the center of Sam’s Club eCommerce strategy, where data drives every decision. As a key member of the eComm Strategy team, you’ll own the analytical backbone behind performance narratives and strategic recommendations that shape how the business grows.

This is a deeply analytical, highly strategic role—ideal for someone with a quantitative consulting, economics, or merchandising planning background who thrives in constant data iteration. You won’t be building predictive models, but you will be neck-deep in business performance, turning complex datasets into clear insights, trends, and strategies that senior leaders and cross-functional partners rely on to make decisions.

If you enjoy being the person who defines what questions matter, dictates what analysis is needed, and translates numbers into business action, this role was built for you.

What you'll do...

  • Lead eCommerce Performance Analytics: Own ongoing analysis of eComm performance tied to trade execution, member behavior, and business results, ensuring leaders have a clear view of what’s driving outcomes.
  • Set Analytical Priorities: Define the analytical focus areas and performance views needed across the business, guiding Analytics partners on what to build and how insights should be framed.
  • Deliver Business Insights: Translate complex data into concise insights, trends, and recommendations that inform trade, operational, and strategic decisions.
  • Support Day-to-Day Business Operations: Provide regular performance readouts and analysis that support daily and weekly business operations across the eComm organization.
  • Develop Strategic Materials: Create white papers, strategy documents, and performance narratives that shape near- and long-term eCommerce priorities.
  • Communicate with Impact: Build and present executive-ready decks, including performance updates and trade recaps, for senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Finance, Merchandising, and central eComm teams to align on data needs, performance metrics, and insights.
What you’ll bring…
  • Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills, with experience translating data into insights that drive decisions.
  • Background in economics, statistics, information systems, business analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience in management consulting, economic consulting, merchandising planning, or business strategy roles.
  • Experience in large-scale Ecommerce organization or functional role preferred but not required
  • Comfort pulling, manipulating, and interpreting large datasets; fluency in performance-based analysis.
  • Ability to lead through influence—setting analytical direction without owning predictive model development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in executive-facing decks and strategy materials.
  • Masters or MBA preferred but not required; intellectual curiosity and business judgment are critical.
  • Willingness to learn eCommerce specifics on the job; analytical rigor is the core requirement.
